Memorial Day in Our New Home

It's been about a month since we made the big move to Bowling Green, Kentucky, and we're doing great. We love our new home. It is the perfect fit for our family right now, and we love the small, quiet neighborhood. Brenton started his new job as a District Executive for the Boy Scouts of America, and I'm hoping to be teaching piano and voice in the next few months. Ryan is talking up a storm, learning several new words and phrases every day. We are so proud of him. I've safely healed from my miscarriage in April, and while it still brings a few tears to my eyes every now and then, I know the Lord has a plan for our family, and we are moving forward with faith and trust in Him.

Since yesterday was Memorial Day, Brenton had the day off. We spent the day relaxing and playing together, then went over to our friend's home for dinner. After a lovely meal with friends, we went to Bowling Green's Historic Aviation Heritage Park for our Family Home Evening activity. It was a great reminder to us of those who gave their lives for this wonderful country we are privileged to live in. Currently there are three planes in the park, flown by past residents of Bowling Green and the surrounding area. Each one had a plaque with information about the pilots and the plane itself. Ryan was so excited to see them. At each plane we told Ryan about members of his family who served or are currently serving in that particular branch of the military. It was a great way to honor the day. 

 After visiting the park, we took Ryan to the elementary school playground that's practically in our backyard. Ryan enjoyed the slides and tunnels, then noticed a few teenage boys playing basketball on the adjacent blacktop. He ran full speed towards their game shouting, "Back-a-ball!!!!" So as not to disrupt the boys game, Daddy quickly found another basketball and my two boys began a friendly game of one-on-one. Ryan couldn't get enough of shooting and running after the ball. He wasn't half bad either. We may have a future star on our hands.

I think Ryan would have stayed there playing all evening, but much to his chagrin, we took him home for a bath and bedtime. 

We are so happy to be here and settled down in our new home. We're excited for everything this new place has in store for us, and hopefully in the next little while our little trio will be planning to become a quartet again. Until then, it will be a fun summer with fresh fruits and veggies from our garden, trips to the library, playdates in parks, two more family weddings, and lots and LOTS of watermelon!
