Toys, Smiles, and Crawling

Yes, believe it or not Ryan is now 8 months old. Where does the time go? Here are some things that he's up to these days.

He is army crawling everywhere. He can cross the room inside of 10 seconds, and enjoys finding tiny nooks and crannies to squeeze himself into.Once he's in this space, he forgets how to get out of it, and cries for Mommy.

Ryan, Daddy, and Cal Ripbear enjoy watching baseball together, especially the Orioles.

One of Ryan's favorite things to do is to hold onto Mommy or Daddy's hands and walk. He is so proud of himself every time he takes a step, and really only uses our hands for balance.

He can now pull himself up into a standing position, causing Mommy and Daddy the need to lower his crib. The other day he pulled himself up while in the tub, and was very excited about it.

Ryan is happiest when Mommy and Daddy are playing with him at the same time, and he has our complete attention. He especially loves when we show him a new to play with an old toy. He can't wait to mimic what we do.

When he wakes up in the morning he plays in his crib for a little while without crying. It allows Mommy an extra 20 minutes or so of sleep, which is wonderful.

He understands the word "no," and when I catch him playing with something he's not supposed to, such as a cord, he gives me a sheepish "busted" look, and quickly crawls away.

He loves using his bottle as a squirt gun, and giggles every time he sprays his face with it. I've had to begin teaching him that bottles are strictly for eating, as formula definitely isn't free.

He is an excellent eater, and hardly turns up his nose at anything. Everything we've tried has been successful. His favorite fruit is apples, and his favorite veggie is carrots.

Every time Mommy plays the piano, Ryan crawls under to her feet and hits the pedals. He thinks it's the greatest game.

Besides a small stuffed alligator named Harvey, Ryan's favorite toy is the long sheer curtain in our family room. He loves crawling over to it and shaking it above his head.

He truly gets cuter every single day. I don't know how we managed to get to so lucky with such a wonderful baby boy.
